Cadenhead Club Tasting – Edinburgh

Quick review of an excellent tasting for Cadenhead Club’s (10th?) anniversary. It was an excellent night, with some amazing drams and held in a great space (the downstairs room at the Canon’s Gait). Some very basic notes are below – more a record than a review! The main take home for me was how delicious the Invergordon was – immediately reserved a bottle (was ~£55, excellent value).

1. Macduff cask sample 10yo 46%, 2 casks married (bourbon and oloroso). Fruit cake.
2. Glenlossie 30yo cask sample (not being bottled soon). 1992, 53.3%. Bourbon barrel. Tasted young in an old way, somehow.
3. Invergordon 16yo 60.6% oloroso finish. This was amazing! Thick, sherried popcorn.
4. Orkney (HP) 19yo, 61.8%, £100. 1 year in Union (Brazilian) cask. Very clean!
5. Longrow Sauternes cask sample (last cask they have of this). 16yo, 55.9%. Fully matured in this cask. Being released in Feb. £105. Tangy, funky and delicious.
6. Caol Ila 17yo 55.1%. Being released in Dec. Frazzly ham! A touch watery?
